As the season of gratitude begins, we’re reflecting on how much our Herff community gives every day—through time, kindness, and support. November brings exciting events, opportunities to give back, and plenty of reasons to be thankful.

💪 APEX Fundraiser Update

We are so grateful for the incredible support from our Herff families, staff, and community during this year’s APEX Fundraiser—our largest of the year! Thanks to your generosity, we now have the opportunity to explore several exciting campus improvement ideas in partnership with our school administration.

 

Potential projects include updating the outdoor classroom by the library, refreshing the bare garden beds, adding more outdoor seating near the playground field, and supporting the 5th Grade Legacy Project, among others.

 

As always, we’ll work closely with campus leadership to ensure these funds are used where they can make the greatest impact for our students and staff. Thank you for helping us continue to make Herff a place where our Hawks can learn, play, and thrive!

 
 

💥 APEX Big Event — Thursday, November 6th

It’s time for the BIG EVENT — the grand finale of our APEX Fundraiser! 🦅

Families are invited to come cheer on their child’s team. Bring your energy, school spirit, and loud voices — let’s make this an unforgettable day for our Hawks!

 

Event Schedule:

  • Kindergarten: 8:00–8:50 AM

  • 1st Grade: 8:00–8:50 AM

  • 2nd Grade: 9:00–9:50 AM

  • 4th Grade: 9:00–9:50 AM

  • 3rd Grade: 10:00–10:50 AM

  • 5th Grade: 10:00–10:50 AM

  • Pre-K: 11:00–11:30 AM

🎉 Spirit Stick Sale — Friday, November 7th

Show your school spirit, Hawks! Spirit Sticks will be on sale Friday, November 7th during lunch periods for just $1.00 each.

 

Kinder and Pre-K will get a special shopping time at 9:00 AM in their nests, so everyone has a chance to join in on the fun.

 

Grab your favorite sticks before they’re gone and add a little extra spirit to your backpack! 🦅 

Veterans Day Program — Monday, November 11

We’re honored to celebrate the heroes who have served our country! Join us for our annual Veterans Day Program featuring heartfelt student performances and a special flag display.

 

Before the ceremony, the PTO will host a light breakfast for our Veterans as a small token of gratitude. Coffee and refreshments will also be available during the event.

🥧 Thanksgiving Pies & Gift Cards

 

We’re keeping a beloved BISD tradition alive by purchasing mini pies from Tootie Pie Company for our friends at the Central Office!

 

At Herff, we’re also showing our gratitude by giving each of our amazing staff members an HEB gift card so they can pick out what they need to make their Thanksgiving extra special.

Thank you for helping us celebrate our staff and district family this holiday season — it’s small gestures like these that remind us how thankful we are for our Herff community!

 
 

😊 Staff Smiles — November Edition

This month’s Staff Smiles theme is “Thankful for You.” We’re celebrating our incredible teachers and staff with a special HES Staff Gathering & Feast — a time to relax, connect, and enjoy some well-deserved fun before the holiday season.

 

It’s our way of showing appreciation for all the hard work, heart, and dedication that make Herff such a special place for our students.

No one here is paid—we do this because we care about supporting teachers, creating memorable experiences for students, and building a strong school community. Your involvement, whether big or small, truly makes the difference.

Treat Trolley

🍬 Treat Trolley Donations Needed! 🍪

Our teachers and staff work so hard every day, and we love surprising them with a rolling cart full of sweet and savory treats! 🎉 Help us keep the Treat Trolley stocked by sending in donations of individually wrapped snacks, candy, drinks, or other fun goodies. Every little bit brings big smiles and shows our appreciation! 💙

Donations can be dropped off in the front office anytime—thank you for helping us spoil our amazing Hawk staff! 🦅✨
